Planning a Trip to Zion National Park

Oh Zion, you’re beautiful during all times of the year! Your captivating red canyon walls and magnificent river has my heart. Zion National Park, located in the southwest corner of Utah, is definitely the busiest during peak camping and hiking season from May through the beginning of November. I hiked around Zion during from beginning to mid-November in 2018, and I’m still shocked at the number of people still adventuring within the beautiful terrain. The shuttles even were still going in mid-November! The mass of canyon-seekers makes sense after I found out that Zion is one of the top visited National Parks in the country--made obvious by its rewarding hikes and spectacular views. Zion happens to be the fourth most visited park in the nation, just behind Rocky Mountain National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the Great Smoky Mountains. As people’s intrigue in Zion keeps growing, so does the attendance each year.

Each with a buzzing coffee scene, there are a number of local options in Green Bay that offer great coffee, their local flair, and the perfect vibe. There are many other options in Green Bay, including national chains, but I will only be considering local shops. These are the ones that I think have the best overall vibe, best service, and the best drinks themselves to make up this list of Green Bay’s best coffee shops.

I wanted to share some of the road trip highlights (and downfalls) with you to either give you a bit of wanderlust, or to inspire your next Western adventure. This awesome road trip was the product of months of planning, and it had a surprise ending that was life-changing!

Zion National Park Restaurants: King's Landing Bistro

For me, planning a trip is almost as fun as actually going on the trip. I have been visiting Springdale, Utah and Zion National Park since the year 2000. Each time, a new part of the park and surrounding area opens itself to me. Springdale still has it's charming, small-town feel, even after a record 4.2 million people visited Zion National Park this year. It has resisted the commercialization that some other national park gateway towns have succumbed to (I'm looking at you, Moab). I am always pleasantly surprised when I find a hidden gem in a place I think I know like the back of my hand. Kings Landing Bistro is a treasure I dug up when planning a trip to Zion National Park in 2016.
