The Best Breweries Around Green Bay, WI

Green Bay doesn't just have Lambeau Field and kringles going for it — the craft beer scene here is genuinely thriving. As a Cicerone Certified Beer Server, I've done my fair share of tap-room research in this city (tough job, I know), and I'm excited to share my picks for the best breweries in the area. Whether you're a local looking for your next go-to spot, a Packers fan planning a game-day weekend, or a craft beer traveler passing through, this list has you covered. My favorites are listed below in alphabetical order. Let's get into it!

Ahnapee Brewery (Suamico)

1824 Parkfield Ct, Suamico, WI

Ahnapee Brewery has roots that go all the way back to 1868, making it one of the most historically rich craft breweries in the state. Originally located in what was then called Ahnapee (now Algoma), the brewery was revived in 2013 and, in 2020, opened a second production taproom right outside Green Bay in Suamico. That rich legacy isn't just for the history books; it shapes the philosophy behind every pour.

The Suamico taproom rocks an industrial-chic vibe with steel walls and striking murals, and regularly pours 16 small-batch beers on tap, rotating seasonals alongside year-round award-winning offerings. Some of the best brews they make are the Cherry Mechanic Cherry Ale, Little Soldier Amber, and the Two Stall Milk Stout, with my personal favorite being the Hail Mary Helles. Their beers have racked up multiple medals, so you know the quality is legit.

🐾 Dog-friendly: Yes! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on the patio. 🍕 Food situation: Light snacks are available (think pretzels and trail mix), but Ahnapee has partnered with their next-door neighbor, 888 Cheese Co., for food delivery right to your table. You can also bring outside food in.

Pro tip: The large glass garage doors open seasonally, creating an awesome indoor-outdoor feel even on cooler days.

Badger State Brewing Company

990 Tony Canadeo Run, Green Bay, WI

If you're hitting up a Packers game, Badger State is basically a mandatory stop. Located in the Stadium District within walking distance of Lambeau Field, this award-winning destination brewery is as Green Bay as it gets. Their entire 24-tap lineup features beers either brewed on-site or sourced from Wisconsin breweries — a genuinely cool "all-Wisconsin" concept that is a toast to our great state.

What really stands out to me is the variety of beers they consistently offer. IPAs, lagers, sours, hard seltzers, and ciders regularly find time on their taplines, and they’re all well-made. It’s a rare day when I try something at Badger State that doesn’t trip my trigger. I’m also a sucker for their Wisconsin-themed branding, which makes for excellent merch.

🐾 Dog-friendly: Yes! Leashed dogs are welcome in the beer garden, which features picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, heaters, and fire pits. 🍕 Food situation: No kitchen, but food trucks stop by regularly. Light snacks are available, and you're welcome to bring your own food.

Pro tip: They open at least 3 hours before every Packer home game - this is my favorite place to tailgate for a game! Plan accordingly.

Cocoon Brewing (De Pere)

2233 Kaftan Way, De Pere, WI

Cocoon Brewing is the brewery that makes everyone go, "Wait, WHAT is that?" and immediately want to book one of the private pods for the afternoon. Founded by two childhood butterfly collectors, the whole vibe here is about curiosity, wonder, and slowing down. The taproom itself is warm and welcoming year-round, but the real showstoppers are the private outdoor "cocoon" structures: cabin-style lounges tucked around the courtyard, each with its own unique design, streaming TV, WiFi, and Bluetooth audio. You can rent your own little haven for your crew. Absolutely unmatched in the area for a unique experience.

And then there's the food: brick-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas with house-made sauce, risotto bowls, and more. The food alone is worth a trip to Cocoon Brewing. My go-to order? Black garlic bread, pepperoni pizza (the hot honey on top is *chef’s kiss*), and a s’mores pizza for dessert. Pair one of their pies with a rotating craft beer brewed on-site (plus a full bar for your non-beer-drinking friends), and you've got yourself a solid afternoon. Cocoon has quickly built a loyal following since opening.

🐾 Dog-friendly: Yes! Leashed dogs are welcome in all outdoor areas, with a waste disposal station on-site. 🍕 Food: Full kitchen serving house-made brick-fired Neapolitan pizzas and more

Pro tip: Book one of the cocoons in advance if you're visiting with a group; they fill up!

Hinterland Brewery

1001 Lombardi Ave, Green Bay, WI

Hinterland is the OG of the Green Bay craft beer scene. Founded in 1995 by Bill and Michelle Tressler, the brewery was housed in a historic turn-of-the-century meatpacking warehouse before building a stunning new location across the street from Lambeau Field in 2017. Talk about a flex. The awards Hinterland has racked up are no joke either. When we say award-winning, we mean it: Hinterland's Grand Cru 22 (a kettle sour barrel-aged cherry Belgian ale) won Gold at the Brussels Beer Challenge in Belgium and Bronze at the International Beer Cup in Japan, beating out over 1,000 entries from breweries worldwide. Bill’s reaction? "Somehow it was awarded gold. Total shocker, but we're stoked." And in 2025, Hinterland's Altbier took home a Bronze at the World Beer Cup, often called the Olympics of Beer. These are just a few of their accolades. The beers are seriously good, and I’m always excited to see what new brews they’re coming up with.

Beyond the trophies, Hinterland delivers a full dining experience. We're talking farm-to-table, locally sourced New American cuisine. Crispy chicken sandwiches, wood-fired pizzas, tuna poke bowls, fried Brussels sprouts, and more share space on their thoughtful menu. Their seasonal delights keep locals coming back for more. Think ramen nights, oysters, and themed dinners. The space is gorgeous: high ceilings, tons of windows, an expansive patio, and private dining rooms for special events. It's the kind of place you bring out-of-town guests to impress them with Green Bay. Hinterland has a special place in my heart because this was the last place I worked at before going full-time with my photography career!

🐾 Dog-friendly: Yes! Leashed dogs welcome on the patio. 🍕 Food: Full-service restaurant. The most elevated food offerings of any brewery in the area.

Pro tip: Their pre-Packers game setup is incredible. They’re in a prime location in the Titletown District, making them a hot-spot year-round!

Station 1 Brewing (Suamico)

1745 Riverside Dr, Suamico, WI

There's something charming about drinking craft beer in a restored historic fire station, and Station 1 leans into that energy beautifully. This community-centered brewpub and music hall is the kind of neighborhood spot that becomes your regular before you know it. It’s the perfect stop for locals and travelers alike – a spacious outdoor patio with fire pits, cozy seating, regular live music events, and staff who make you feel like you've been coming in for years.

The beer selection ranges from porters and stouts to ambers and honey ales, and they feature brews from other breweries as well. Station 1 also pours wines and cocktails for your non-beer drinking friends. When the sun starts peeking over the horizon, Station 1 transforms into Company Coffee, so yes, this place technically solves both your morning and evening beverage needs.

🐾 Dog-friendly: Yes! Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio). 🍕 Food: Food menu available, including pizza, soft pretzels, chicken tenders, and more.

Pro tip: Check their calendar before you go — live music events make an already great visit exceptional.

Stillmank Brewing Company

215 N Henry St, Green Bay, WI

If you like your beer local and made with genuine care, Stillmank is your place. Founded in 2011 by Brad Stillmank and now run alongside his wife, Erin, this family-owned east side gem is a production and packaging facility first, with a beloved taproom on-site that feels like being let in on a secret. It's a little off the beaten path, tucked in a warehouse district, but that's part of the appeal.

Stillmank specializes in high-quality beers using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, and their commitment to craft shows up in every glass. The flagship Wisco Disco (an award-winning ESB brewed with lactose for an incredibly smooth body) is basically a Green Bay institution at this point. It's rich without being heavy, and pairs beautifully with cheese (very on-brand for Wisconsin). The Perky Porter, brewed with locally roasted coffee beans, is another must-order. And if you can get your hands on the Awesome Sauce, a Door County cherry ale, do not pass it up.

I love that the taproom has games to play while you drink, and Brad genuinely loves talking beer with anyone who walks through the door.

🐾 Dog-friendly: Yes! Pups are welcome inside the taproom. 🍕 Food: No kitchen, but you're welcome to bring in outside food.

Pro tip: Hours are more limited than some other spots, so check ahead and plan your visit accordingly.

The Bottom Line

Green Bay's craft beer scene is punching well above its weight, and I think that's worth celebrating. Whether you're after world-class award-winning ales, a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience, a game-day tradition, or a neighborhood gem with serious character, there's a pint waiting for you here. Go explore. Drink well. Tip your bartender.🍺

Cheers,

Kate
